Though fans likely felt that the development progress of Hogwarts Legacy had been up in the air in 2021 due to several rumors and leaks circulating online, the devs made it a point to put any wrong information to rest. The recent State of Play likely also did its job to reassure that fans will be getting the whole Wizarding World experience in 2022. Given that Hogwarts Legacy was only announced in 2020, fans are probably excited to play the video game only two years after it was first revealed to the public.

In the 14-minute gameplay trailer of Hogwarts Legacy, it was revealed that players will be able to explore areas outside the grounds of Hogwarts. This includes the bustling village of Hogsmeade. According to the trailer, players will need to visit the area to shop and gather supplies needed for their schoolwork. This includes potion ingredients, recipes, and even unique outfits to polish the player’s complete character customization in Hogwarts Legacy. However, the trailer did not indicate if the outfits and gear will involve microtransactions in the future.

The village of Hogsmeade will also play a bigger role in the story of Hogwarts Legacy. Players exploring the darker side of the area and its outskirts will likely encounter dark witches and wizards in Hogwarts Legacy that they can battle with spells. The footage also showcased how the seasons transition in Hogwarts Legacy, giving fans a sneak peek on what to expect visually when they experience the game themselves.

Though Hogsmeade is the only area specifically named in the Hogwarts Legacy gameplay trailer, it may be possible that more areas outside of Hogwarts will be revealed later on. The footage shows snippets of dungeons and explorable areas beyond the school’s walls, and so fans are likely wondering about this as well. Hopefully the developers share more location details closer to the launch of the game this holiday 2022.

Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled to release during holiday 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
