Since the game was originally announced, much of Hogwarts Legacy, such as the identity of the new Hogwarts Charms Professor, has been shared online in order to promote the game, which will be open-world in nature. As this type of game has never before been associated with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, despite lending itself so naturally to it, hype has reached a fever pitch. Though the game is set in the nineteenth-century, some two hundred years prior to the events of Harry Potter, fans can be assured they will be able to explore many familiar locations.

One such location is the Hogwarts Great Hall, an image of which was recently shared to the internet as part of a Q&A session for Hogwarts Legacy. Despite being set quite far in the past, the floating candles and iconic house tables of the Harry Potter series remain present. Though many noteworthy areas such as Hogsmeade will be in Hogwarts Legacy, the Great Hall will almost certainly be an important aspect of the game, with it being the location where students gather for important assemblies, assemble for the end-of-year feast, and are sorted into houses.

Speaking of houses, the house, the house banners for Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Ravenclaw can be seen draped over the tables of the Great Hall in the foreground of the image, with Slytherin’s own table being visible in the background. Students sat at the tables have the hoods of their robes colored in accordance with the primary color of their respective house, showing that the tradition long-predates Harry Potter. Hogwarts Legacy has already given players a look at the common rooms and continues to place particular emphasis upon the houses, with the four stained-glass windows at the back of the hall being red, yellow, blue, and green in another nod to them.

With yet another memorable location being revealed to have not changed all that much in comparison to the main franchise, many fans will also be pleased to know that several iconic characters such as Peeves the Poltergeist are present in Hogwarts Legacy. Despite being set in a different time period, the many references and similarities between Hogwarts Legacy and Harry Potter will ensure that players returning to the franchise after a long hiatus will feel right at home.

Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled to release on February 10, 2023, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a PS4 and Xbox One release on April 4 and a Switch release on July 25.
